The Vibe

Barcelona is a city that never seems to sleep, yet it feels perfectly relaxed. It is a visual masterpiece where gothic cathedrals sit blocks away from colorful, alien-like buildings by Antoni Gaudí. For students, it’s a paradise of outdoor life—from beach volleyball at Barceloneta to evening "Botellóns" (socializing with drinks) in the squares of Gràcia.

Must-See Spots

Bunkers del Carmel – Free panoramic views of the entire city
Gothic Quarter – Historic alleys and hidden squares
Gaudí Architecture – Casa Batlló & Casa Milà (free to view outside)
Parc de la Ciutadella – Perfect for relaxing and student gatherings

Cheap Eats

Carrer de Blai (Pintxos Street): In the Poble Sec neighborhood, this street is lined with bars serving "Pintxos" (small snacks on bread) for €1–€2 each.

100 Montaditos: On Wednesdays and Sundays, almost everything on the menu is €1–€1.50.

Menú del Día: Look for chalkboard signs at lunch. For €12–€15, you get a three-course meal with bread and a drink.

Boqueria Market (The Hack): Don't buy the fruit cups at the front for €5. Walk to the very back of the market where the same cups are €1.50–€2.

Entertainment & Nightlife

• Razzmatazz: A massive club with five rooms. They often have student-priced tickets and indie concerts.

• Magic Fountain of Montjuïc: A free music and light water show. Check the schedule online as it changes seasonally.

Hikes & Outdoors

• Montserrat: A 1-hour train ride away. The "hike" to the top of the jagged peaks is challenging but offers views that feel like another planet.
• Tibidabo Hill: You can hike from the city all the way up to the church at the top. It's a great workout and totally free.

Where to Sleep

• Sant Jordi Hostels Rock Palace: Famous for its rooftop pool and very social student vibe.
• Yeah Hostel: Known for having the best communal family dinners in the city for about €10.
• Generator Barcelona: Very stylish and located in the trendy Gràcia district.
